Prof. Rupam Borgohain has built a distinguished career in neurology, with a strong academic foundation and numerous professional achievements. His pioneering work in DBS surgery has positioned him as one of the foremost specialists in this field. Prof. Borgohain has served as the Principal Investigator (PI) in groundbreaking clinical trials, including the Safinamide trial for Parkinson’s disease. As a founder member of PRAI (Parkinson’s Disease Research India) and MDSI (Movement Disorder Society of India), he has made substantial contributions to movement disorder research across India.
Professor Rupam Borgohain, through his exceptional leadership, built a remarkable team comprising Dr. Rukmini, Dr. Rajesh, and Dr. Sruthi over time.
Dr. Rukmini Mridula Kandadai is an expert Senior Consultant Neurologist with over 25 years of experience, known for her exceptional expertise in managing complex movement disorders. As the Clinical Director at PDMDRC, Dr. Kandadai is committed to offering personalized care, ensuring each patient receives comprehensive and compassionate treatment, including advanced therapies like deep brain stimulation. Her dedication to neurology is matched by her active involvement in research and academic excellence and also a prominent member of several national and international neurology societies.
Dr. A. Rajesh is a highly skilled Senior Consultant Neurosurgeon with over 25 years of experience in the field. Known for his expertise in complex neurosurgical procedures, he specializes in DBS for movement disorders, epilepsy surgeries, skull base tumors, and spinal and cranial neuromodulation. He is also highly skilled in stereotactic procedures and handling complex neurosurgical cases. As Clinical Director at PDMDRC, Dr. Rajesh is committed to providing exceptional care, utilizing the latest techniques to improve patient outcomes. He is actively involved in research and continues to make significant contributions to the field of neurosurgery. Also He had more than 100 peer reviewed publications and 6 text book chapters.
Dr. Sruthi Kola is a skilled Consultant Neurologist with 15 years of experience.She specializes in advanced treatments for neurological disorders, including Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS), botulinum toxin therapy for conditions like dystonia and spasticity, and managing complex cases of Parkinson's disease and other movement disorder conditions. Dr. Kola is dedicated to providing comprehensive care to improve the quality of life for her patients.
Under his guidance, the team performed the highest number of DBS surgeries and successfully initiated DBS programs across multiple locations throughout India and outside India like PGI Chandigarh, NIMHANS, JIPMER, Raipur, Kolkata, Sri Lanka, Columbia . Team is also actively engaged in training the next generation of specialists through Fellowship and Ph.D. programs. Also Dr Rupam Borgohain, Dr Rukmini and Dr Rajesh are visiting professors at SRM university Chennai.
